Note: Students can complete early, but training plan must reflect this and additional evidence from the employer may be needed to verify that the student is ready to complete early.

Note: RPL is not viable for most of these students as they do not have access to the evidence required to demonstrate competency.

QLD Traineeship - Completions

Apprenticeships and traineeships are competency-based, not time-based. This means that when an employer and apprentice or trainee are satisfied all training and assessment required under their training plan has been completed, and the supervising registered training organisation (SRTO) has issued the qualification, they may begin the completion process. This means a trainee must:

  • Have completed all units of competency in their training plan

  • Be competent in the workplace to industry standards.

Trainees will receive two (2) certificates:

  • The training organisation will issue the qualification certificate demonstrating that the qualification has been completed

  • DESBT will issue the completion certificate supporting that you have acquired all the skills of the apprenticeship or traineeship.

An apprentice or trainee can finish their apprenticeship or traineeship earlier than the 'nominal completion' date if they achieve these competencies before then.

NSW Traineeship - Completions

Training Services NSW have confirmed that they can accept a completion, as long as it’s not more than six months past the student’s nominal completion date.

If a student is marked with competencies after their nominal completion date, their completion form will need to have the agreed/nominal completion date, and their certificate will show the actual completion date (after the nominal date).
