Student Progression Plan

The purpose of this Progression Plan is to assist and support students to fulfil their academic and clinical responsibilities within the Diploma of Nursing. It is to be commenced when a student has been identified as not achieving the desired outcomes of a unit of competency or when the assessor/supervisor deems them to be at risk of not achieving the learning objectives of the course. This includes not meeting the NMBA Standards for Enrolled Nurses.

Progression on Placement (PEP) Guidelines

  • Students identified as having attendance issues, at-risk behaviour or not making satisfactory progress in the course will be counselled by their assessor and a Progression Plan may be commenced

  • A Progression Plan includes:

    • Corrective actions: to be completed by the student within a set time frame, usually between two and five days

    • Further support: provided to the student before re-assessment to ensure further opportunity to complete assessment/placement

    • Failure to achieve the corrective actions will result in either further supportive action or lead to cancellation of enrolment.

  • Students demonstrating unsafe work practices will be immediately removed from the placement venue. The workplace assessor will notify the Head of Discipline/Clinical Placement Coordinator immediately.
