You can request an update on your fee status at any time.

6

If your contact details change while you’re enrolled with Strategix, you must inform Strategix as soon as possible so that you can continue receiving up to date communications relating to your course.

7

Tuition fees are apportioned equally across each Unit of Study (fee period) and the charges related to each Unit of Study are incurred at each census date (one per unit of study).

The census date is the last day that you can withdraw from the course without being liable for the tuition fees for that part of the course.

Further information on the total course fees and the distribution of fees across each Unit of Study are available on each course page of the Strategix website as well as the course schedules. Our friendly staff will also clarify this information with you prior to the confirmation of your enrolment and you will receive statements showing these amounts at the beginning of the course and as you progress through the course.

VET Student Loans Information Only

1

Tuition fees are apportioned as per above. This is so that you incur debt as you progress through the course and not for the whole course at the beginning. The census date is the last day that you can:

  • Complete the eCAF to apply for a VET Student Loan, or

  • Withdraw from the course without being liable for the tuition fees for that part of the course.

2

Using VET Student Loans to pay the tuition fees of your course can be an effective way of deferring the cost of your course until you are earning a better income. However, it’s important that you understand and consider the following before applying for a VET Student Loan:

  • VET Student Loans is study assistance in the form of a loan from the Commonwealth

  • The loan will remain as a personal debt obligation until it is repaid to the Commonwealth

  • The loan may affect (by reducing) your take-home (after-tax) wage or salary until the debt is repaid, and may affect your borrowing capacity until the debt is repaid to the Commonwealth

  • To apply for a VET Student Loan, you must complete the electronic Commonwealth Assistance Form (eCAF) before the first census date. The eCAF applies to a loan for the entire VET course of study, charged on a Unit of Study basis, unless some of the tuition fees are paid upfront

  • Fee-HELP limits and course caps apply to VET courses. Fee-HELP limit is the total amount of FEE-HELP that a student can use to defer tuition fee payments. Course caps are the total amount that students can defer towards any one course. The VET Student Loan Information Booklet has detailed information on the Fee-HELP Limit and course caps

  • You should seek independent financial advice prior to applying for a VET Student loan

  • The maximum amount of a VET Student Loan that may be available for each course is here - course schedules. The amount of the loan cannot be greater than your remaining HELP balance

  • The amount of VET Student Loan debt you will accrue for the course is listed here - course schedules, plus a one-off 20% loan fee.

3

To qualify for VET Student Loans with Strategix, you must:

  • Be an Australian Citizen or holder of a Permanent Humanitarian Visa or a New Zealand Citizen who meets the minimum long-term residency requirements, and

  • Have a valid Tax File Number (or certificate of application for a Tax File Number), and

  • Have enough FEE-HELP balance to cover the cost of the course, and

  • Not have exceeded the Fee-HELP limit, and

  • Be enrolled in a VET Student Loan eligible course and have not exceeded the course cap, and

  • Meet the minimum entry requirements by:

    • Providing a copy of your Australian Year 12 Completion Certificate or

    • Providing evidence of successful completion of an Australian Qualifications Framework Certificate IV or higher level qualification or

    • Completing a Language, Literacy and Numeracy assessment and achieving a minimum exit level 3 in Reading and Numeracy. The minimum LLN level is determined by the Department of Education but administered by Strategix using the BKSB which is a VET Student Loans approved LLN assessment tool. Once the LLN assessment has been completed, you will receive written confirmation of your results. Where a student meets the requirements of the LLN assessment, staff will undertake additional checks in the welcome call to establish a reasonable belief that the student has the competence indicated in the LLN assessment. The LLN process is to be conducted with honesty and integrity and if requested, the results of the LLN will be provided to the Secretary in the form, manner and by the time requested by the Secretary.

  • Other criteria apply. Visit studyassist.gov.au for more information.

4

Students accessing VET Student Loans will need to provide documentation to verify their eligibility of the requirements listed in item 10. Strategix will retain this information in accordance with our Privacy Policy and only release it to the relevant departments for the purpose of verifying your eligibility to access VET Student Loans.

5

A VET Student Loan does not incur interest, however, the debt is indexed each year to maintain its real value. There is also a one-off 20% loan fee which is applied to the value of the tuition fees as you pass each census date. Neither of these amounts are calculated or published on the website.

6

Students using VET Student Loans may be required to verify and confirm their enrolment to the Department of Education. This will be done through online progression forms that will be sent to you at various times during your enrolment. Students must also be actively engaged in the course. Not doing so may result in your enrolment being cancelled.

7

Students under the age of 18 will be required to have a parental consent form signed by a responsible parent or guardian prior to being able to complete an eCAF and deferring their tuition fees through VET Student Loans. Alternatively, if the student is considered an independent, they must provide evidence of receiving youth allowance.

8

Strategix may cancel your enrolment from the course if you are disengaged from your studies and uncontactable for a substantial period of time. Strategix may also cancel your enrolment from the course if you have not maintained your tuition fee payment arrangements for the course. In the event that Strategix decides to cancel an enrolment, students will receive written notice and will be given at least 28 days to contact Strategix. The cancellation will take final effect only after any grievance procedures initiated by the student have been completed.
